Presentations that sell - Seven fatal flaws and how to fix, Part 4

Do you have a presentation for you and wants to do it well. Have you read my previous articles and think you are ready to roll. Not so fast! Before making the delivery, there is the element of energy to face.

People do not buy a logo. Do not buy from a building. And do not buy it because you manufacture or sell the gizmo only of its kind on the planet. People buy from people they like, but it's the likability factor applied to real-life business.

Think about it. As technology becomes ever more complicated, we allow it to take over our phones, our entertainment, our businesses and our virtual lives. And as we do, a detachment arrived on the scene. In Cold Blood has crept into our way of connecting with each other - if indeed, we connect at all. A distorted "professionalism" has slipped into business and we have indeed a message that "your call is important to me" on our answering machine means something good to the caller. It does not.

It seems that people are becoming less and less attentive to show you care, more and less able to grease the wheels that make interpersonal life without a hitch. Or maybe just do not think that being nice counts for much in business. It is not true. Research tells us that people respond positively to the nice people. Clearly, it is important to convey a warm, human element when present - because it's the nice thing to do and why you pay big-time.

Still there is more. The presentation is a performance. This does not mean that you should be smooth or false or untrue in any way. It means that when you have, you're on stage and the audience is willing to listen. It also means you should be aware of your physical presence and what it transmits.

When it comes to a sales presentation, turn and keep the public hearing on eliminating the fatal flaw.

It has no energy.

The energy is attractive. The enthusiasm is contagious. And the passion excites everyone around you. What's up in my office or submit a formal stand-up arena, you must submit with the energy.

We can call it charisma, or personality or magnetism, but it all boils down to the very same thing - energy. When you reveal the real, true emotion, people relate to you and want to hear what you have to say. Your enthusiasm gets them excited. When there is a flow of energy, seems to make great things possible. Energy is a human characteristic sympathetic.

Watch your new favorite anchor. Virtually chained to a chair, reading what could be a horrible story or a news story just boring, it still manages to convey the energy - because without it, you and everyone else would change the channel. While the public can not be shut down, you can easily tune out.

And 'energy that fascinates, but the energy that connects, but the energy that transmits heat, friendly person you want the audience to see in you.

It is said that every morning, President Kennedy controlled his smile in the mirror and practiced until his eyes crinkled. He knew his smile was reached in a room. Yours is not too much, so you watch it on tape and is likely to see the need to kick it up a notch. If you want to achieve through your energy to an audience, that smile may need a little 'bigger, those gestures a bit' wider. Doing it well and everything else is just details.

Bottom line: If you can provide the energy, stay home and let someone else do it for you .......
