Characteristics of a good project plan
No, I'm not talking about the project schedule, the plan I'm talking "real" project again. A good plan should help the project team to achieve the objectives of the project at every stage. It states how the work will be performed.
Even the PM who have successfully completed previous projects require a large number of decisions on issues such as the following:
o What work must be done
o How will the fact
Ø How long the work will take
Or who will do the job and where
Ø How much will
To answer the above questions, a good management plan of the project, as it is now called by the PMI PMBOK, (for simplicity, we will call the project plan in this article) must address the following areas:
plan or project management scope - includes the processes required to ensure that the project includes all work necessary, and only the work necessary to complete the project successfully. It 's mainly to define and control what is and is not included in the project
Plan or Programme Management - Sets the format and establishes criteria for the development and control of project planning
terms of cost or management - Sets the format and establishes the criteria for planning, structuring, estimating, budgeting and cost control of project
Quality Plan or Management - Describes how the project management team will implement the quality policy of the organization
or process improvement plan - details the steps for analyzing processes that facilitate the identification of waste and non value added activities in order to increase customer value
Staff or management plan - describes when and how the human resources requirements will be met
management plan or communication - Describes the communication needs and expectations for the project: how and in what format information will be communicated, when and where each communication will be done, and who is responsible for providing all communication
plan or risk management - Describes how the risk management of the project will be structured and executed on the project
procurement plan or management - Describes how the procurement processes will be managed by the documentation of procurement in the developing world through the closing of the contract
The development of the project plan should not be done all at one shot early in the project. As a matter of fact, it is likely that you will not be able to do everything in one shot, but like most things about the project. This progressive details of the project management plan is often called a "rolling wave planning", indicating that planning is an iterative and ongoing.
Now, do not get caught up too much in accordance with best practices and through the book. A good project plan is one that contains all the information that is necessary and expected, and what you can handle. Do not you think ...? Well, I .......
