How to create a domain name
I was in one of my favorite restaurants in New York the other week and got to talk to the waiter, a young man named Jim, about his decision to start a new business. He was planning a private catering company, wanted to tell me his plan - even if the time taken to pay the bill.
So, I asked Jim if he had bought a domain name?
Jim looked puzzled. Why does he need a domain name - was not planning a Web site? He had to cross that path when, but for now he could not see the need.
Jim Big mistake, I said. A domain name is as important as your company name and carves out a place for his activities in cyberspace. The name of the company gives him a formal identity in the real world, but do not exist in the virtual world of the Internet without first registering a domain name!
And a domain name requires only a few minutes to try and register with one of the many service providers and only costs a few dollars. Leave the recording process too long and there is the possibility that the name you want to register can get taken by someone else, or worse a competitor.
One of the first domain name, you must be registered should be based on your business name. So, 'joes Plumbing' could result in 'joesplumbing.com' or 'joes-plumbing.com'. . The part is called com top level domain (TLD) and used to indicate a commercial use; 'joesplumbing' the word o 'joes-hydraulic' is technically called the second-level domain and usually refers to the organization.
Things have passed since this convention was proposed and there are many top level domains and coded as one of the most business users in use in Great Britain: joes-plumbing.co.uk as an example.
Now, once the domain name is registered, you can start making use of it as part of your e-mail. Most providers of domain names have a chance to associate its name with a registered email address. You do not need a website and need not have an email account with the provider of domain names.
Thus, 'joes Plumbing' now has a domain name of joesplumbing.com and can be immediately used to create different e-mail addresses very useful: 'joe@joesplumbing.com' and 'sales@joesplumbing.com', as an example. These e-mails can be inserted in all fixed assets and to help companies branding online business .......
