The martial arts magazine
Hello again to all martial arts fans, this time I bring you a brief but substantial review of something that know one way or another, the journal or martial arts. As I said in the previous article, the public is akin to martial arts is very limited, but even when compared with that likes video games, gossip, football or wrestling, because there are plenty of magazines that try to those issues. But if, if there have been serious publications on these issues and here I speak a little about them: Black belt: American Journal of just trying martial arts, has existed since the early 60's still one of the oldest and especially respected, Mitoshi Uyehara founded, its size and thickness compared with that of "Vanities? And has the backing of virtually every major U.S. associations, giving it great resources, philanthropy, advertising and above all economic. Comes in English and sometimes come to our country often months late but really worth it. Have interviewed virtually every reputable teachers who stand on E.
U. and people like Steven Seagal, Jeff Speakman, Dan Inosanto, the Gracie brothers, Frank Dux, etc.. Black belt, not to be confused with the above, it is also called "International Budo? in other countries, Spanish publishing and editorial director is the aristocrat of the martial arts Alfredo Tucci. Besides being also one of the oldest is also the most respected and similar in size to that of black belt. Try always broad themes of martial arts, both Eastern and Western, Mexico comes several months too late. Personalities have interviewed the likes of Cintya Rothrock, Larry Tatum, Ji Han Jae, Huang Aguilar and virtually all the greats that have gone to Europe. It also has an extensive library.
Dojo: Spanish magazine content-rich historical, philosophical and martial, was founded in the early 70's. It is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable reading entertaining content, including your most common were those who tried about Bruce Lee, but especially martial arts history. In addition we always had at both of the films of this genre. Unfortunately it ceased publication in 2008 for economic reasons, a real America, was very good publication. They used to interview teachers about the same as above, but that if it was thinner. Martial Arts: Journal directed by controversial journalist John Chia. It was during seven years of martial arts publication and broadcast more solid on the subject of very good quality graphics that did not ask anything in previous issues. Teachers interviewed the likes of Frank Dux, Jeff Speakman, Skip Hankok, Robert Koga, Sam and almost every teacher Kuoha important that arrived in Mexico. Unfortunately I happened to see the decline in which developed during his senior year existence items that were once enjoyable and interesting became a kind of advertisements and self-adulation to his collaborators.
But although that was undoubtedly the best magazine on the subject is a shame that was left to edit because of lack of interest. Katana: Revista Mexicana, but does not reach national circulation as above, is of high quality editorial and how much an extensive library and is an excellent means of disseminating events and tournaments. Has been criticized by Mexican martial community between associations for political reasons, but that does not diminish its valuable contents. As already mentioned, are not always distributed throughout the country, a real shame. Budokan: Spanish magazine, although the 90's does not reach the diffusion of their counterparts, but focuses more on interviews and commercials. Editorial quality is good but also comes to the country several months late. Other magazines such as "kung fu?" Fists of steel? and "used martial arts? but they are nothing more than media events and lower quality unfortunately. Magazine left, and come but I think it is clear that media needed in these disciplines, because as we do not seek financial gain, not given much patronage, but that has not prevented the development of a subculture of fans Martial arts.
I say goodbye and accept criticism and suggestions. Alfredo Jiménez
